Al-Khatib Rashid Abdullah Al-Saadi

nternational Fellow, Dalhousie University | Former Specialist, Community Mental Health, Oman
Dr. Al-Saadi is an international fellow at Dalhousie University with prior experience as a community mental health specialist in Oman. He earned his MD from Sultan Qaboos University (2015) and completed a five‑year psychiatry residency through the Oman Medical Specialty Board, supplemented by Arab Board psychiatry training. He has held clinical posts across Oman and brief medical rotations in Portugal (Braga) and Poland (Mazarek).

Clinical expertise includes outpatient and emergency psychiatry, inpatient care, electroconvulsive therapy, and interdisciplinary liaison work. Since September 2023 he has served in the psychiatry department at Sohar Extended Health Center.
Dr. Al-Saadi’s research focuses on suicide and self‑harm, depression in medical comorbidity, substance use, catatonia, chronic pain and culturally specific idioms of distress.
He has presented at international conferences (Barcelona, RCPS London) and earned recognition as Best Staff (AL Multqa Health Center, 2017) and Best Psychiatry Resident (Oman Medical Specialty Board, 2023).
Dr. Al-Saadi is committed to advancing community‑based, culturally informed psychiatric care and to bridging international clinical and research collaborations in mental health.
